Dating in Scotland – Edinburgh and the Lothians
Edinburgh is Scotlands capital and has been for many centuries, having been granted its first charter in 1125, but was actually founded in the 7th century. It has an old town stretching back to medieval times and an elegant Georgian new town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Towering above the city is Edinburgh castle, the home to the Scottish Crown Jewels and the famous stone destiny, used at the coronation of all of Scotland’s rulers.
The Lothian’s – are 3 counties, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian are the historic region surrounding the city of Edinburgh, in the Scottish Lowlands, situated in the Southwest of the country. Other principal towns within the Lothians are: Livingston. Linlithgow, Bathgate, Queensferry, Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, Penicuik, Musselburgh, Prestonpans, Tranent, North Berwick, Dunbar, Whitburn and Haddington.
The population of Edinburgh is 554,000, in addition to this, West Lothian has a population of 182,000, East Lothian 113,000 and Midlothian 103,000, approaching a quarter of Scotland’s total population. So, in terms of it’s dating potential, it is higher than most of the rest of Scotland but remains as one of Country Partners busiest locations. As finding eligible partners seems to have become more difficult in recent years. Particularly for those who prefer not to use online dating services and smartphone dating apps, due to safety and confidentiality concerns.
What We Do
Country Partners is Scotland’s very own dating agency and was formed originally to provide service across Scotland and the North of England only, hence our 2 regional offices in Bath Street, Glasgow and Wetherby in North Yorkshire. Due to our considerable success, we have been forced to extend that to national coverage right across the UK.
We were voted Boutique Dating Agency of the Year in 2022 and Reserve Dating Agency of the Year for 2023 in our first year being classed as a larger agency – so quite an accolade. We generate 100+ enquiries each and every month and our friendly team of membership advisers are usually the first point of contact for these.
Our advisers are always happy to talk through our service and describe what the help of working with a matchmaker is really like, as it is often new and unfamiliar to many. There is never any obligation to proceed, our aim is always to put you in an informed position to enable you to decide whether or not one of our memberships could be advantageous in your search for a new partner.
The Matchmaking Process
Our matchmakers have all been through intensive training and have all successfully completed our Matchmaking Academy course, so they know and understand the dating marketplace completely and its pitfalls.
They will look to build a close relationship with our members during the lifetime of your membership and will be happy to take feedback about your dates and how you’re progressing in your search for a new high-quality partner and in your search for love.
When you have decided to join, the initial steps in our process are usually completed by our Client Registration Team of Vicky and Alison, who will discreetly guide you through our vetting procedures, arrange your profiling interview, whether you choose to be seen in your own home, at our office or via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. They will also oversee the creation of your dating profile, help you choose your photographs etc
Usually, you will then receive your welcome call from your own matchmaker and the exciting part of your membership can then begin, which is of course your recommendations or introductions and actually going on dates for the first time and feeding back as to your thoughts on how it went.
