Dating in Yorkshire

by | Jun 1, 2020 | News

At Country Partners, our members have been dating in a new way.  Relationships have been slowly developing via video call and in some cases, traditional letter form.  Many members have welcomed this slower, more traditional approach.  However, now that we can meet others outside, we are welcoming the chance to meet face to face.  With so many glorious places to visit in Yorkshire, it looks as though summer 2020 is going to be the perfect time to enjoy romantic days out.

Our personal matchmakers have put together some suggestions for wonderful summer dates:

Runswick Bay

Runswick Bay can be found at the northern end of a glorious sandy beach, close to Whitby.   Once a fishing village, there is a timeless feel to its white cottages and thatched roofs.  A stroll along the beach will lead you to the Hobbs Holes, small caves that legend says once belonged to Hobgoblins.  During the summer months, there are also activities for the more adventurous.  Hire a paddleboard or a kayak from the beach to enjoy the water.

Duncombe Park

This nature reserve and large park provided key locations for the new film adaptation of The Secret Garden.  Starring Colin Firth and Julie Walters, the film is due to release in August 2020.

Enjoy a romantic walk around the thirty-five acre 18th century green gardens.  You’ll find temples, terraces, a beautiful yew tree walk and a scented, secret garden.

Close by, you’ll also find Nunnington Hall.  Here you can take the Nunnington Hall and River Rye Walk.  The walk starts at the old hall and leads along the Rye to the village of Ness.  You’ll pass Ness Bridge and a pretty weir.  Heading into the countryside, the route takes you to Caulkleys Lane and Caulkleys Bank.  Reaching a height of 300ft, this a great area to take in the views.

Ebor Way

This beautiful walk goes from Ilkley to Helmsley.  The first section takes you along the River Foss and to the ruined Sherriff Hutton Castle.  After leaving York, the walk follows the River Ouse, towards Tadcaster and the River Wharfe.  From here, you’ll pass the beautiful Harewood House with its bird garden and one hundred acres of beautiful gardens.

After our time in isolation, many of us are viewing relationships and the world around us with renewed gratitude.  What better time to enjoy dating in Yorkshire with someone special?
